The Verbatim Gateway system—interfaced with an Allen-Bradley MicroLogix family of PLCs containing a native Modbus RTU Slave driver—performs alarm and monitoring functions with existing wiring to PLCs as inputs via data communications. In order to facilitate data communications via Modbus RTU Master/Slave over RS232 data interface, RACO provides a NULL Modem serial cable, VAB-1. Tip of the Month: Connecting Verbatim Gateway to CompactLogix PLC

Verbatim Gateway autodialers can be connected via DF1 to any of Allen-Bradley’s CompactLogix family of PLCs, which have a 9 PIN, male RS232 port. The following tips will help you get started. 1. Prepare your equipment: You will need a Verbatim Gateway autodialer and 510VAB-1 cable, supplied by RACO, and a CompactLogix PLC, RS232 cable and RSLogix software, supplied by Allen-Bradley. 2. RACO’s Verbatim Gateway system puts pump station alarm monitoring and reporting for water and wastewater treatment plants right at your fingertips. Programming, status checks and alarm notification are all done through the phone. The system is compatible with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and PC-based HMI/SCADA systems, and can monitor up to 144 points at once.
