Tip of the Month: Connecting Verbatim Gateway to CompactLogix PLC

Verbatim Gateway autodialers can be connected via DF1 to any of Allen-Bradley’s CompactLogix family of PLCs, which have a 9 PIN, male RS232 port. The following tips will help you get started. 1. Prepare your equipment: You will need a Verbatim Gateway autodialer and 510VAB-1 cable, supplied by RACO, and a CompactLogix PLC, RS232 cable and RSLogix software, supplied by Allen-Bradley. 2. On July 15, 2006, a power outage at a Manhattan Beach, Calif., pump station resulted in the largest wastewater spill in a decade. Although the facility had a SCADA system in place, a combination of equipment and communication failures occurred, causing extreme flooding.
